Hebrew calligraphy is the language of my soul.
I was drawn to calligraphy from the first time I saw it at age 12.
When I eventually trained as an artist, it was in calligraphy that I specialized.
As the years went on and I spent my days involved with a growing, busy family (providing endless opportunities for growing myself, too!), the evenings became my time to sit, myself, with paper and calligraphy pen.
Involvement in Hebrew calligraphy is both calming and exhilarating: it nurtures my own soul and enables me to enrich the lives of my clients. The pieces I create range from ketubot, invitations and baby gifts to custom art based on text from the Tanach or the siddur.
I thank G-d daily for the privilege I have to be a creator of Jewish calligraphic art, bringing physical and spiritual beauty to the homes of people around the world.
I have been fortunate to live in places of tremendous spiritual import.
I was born and grew up in Jerusalem, with the Kotel only a bus ride away. After I married, we lived for years in Kiryat Arba, with Chevron and Me’arat HaMachpeila a short drive from our home. The holiness of these cities continues to inspire and infuse my artwork to this day.
The town of Nitzan, in Israel’s south, is currently the place that I, my husband, and our four children call home. A ten-minute drive brings me to the beach, where I often find inspiration from sitting quietly by the Mediterranean Sea. Stones smoothed by the water can become my canvas, in addition to ceramic plates, or tambourines (or paper, of course!): whatever medium best matches the spirit of the work.
In addition to my Hebrew calligraphy work, I give art courses in schools and online, taking joy in the opportunity to help others develop their ability to express their inner selves through art.
